What $195 buys you here — and what it does not

An authentic Chilliwack runs about $1,000. At $195 you are buying the silhouette, the badge and the baffle layout, not the fill. Every jacket on this page uses a synthetic-heavy blend rather than 625-fill white duck down, which means it is warm to roughly −5°C and not to −25°C. We would rather say that plainly than let you find out in January. If you want a genuine cold-weather jacket at this price, the honest answer is a real North Face Nuptse, not a rep Goose.

Chilliwack, Lodge, Lawrence — how the cuts differ

Chilliwack is the bomber: short, ribbed hem, no hood on the original, cut to sit at the waist. Lodge is the hooded everyday jacket, longer through the body with a two-way zip. Lawrence is the quilted stand-collar piece — the least technical of the three and the one that reads most like a city coat. Sizing is consistent across all of them, and all three run large: if you are a medium in most brands, take a small.

The badge is the whole test

The Arctic Program badge is embroidered, not printed, and the maple leaves inside the circle should be individually legible at arm's length. On cheap reps the leaves fuse into a red blob and the blue border is a single flat stitch. Second check: the badge sits on the left sleeve, roughly 8cm below the shoulder seam — not centred on the sleeve and not on the chest. Third: the interior locker loop and the "CANADA GOOSE" wordmark on the inside hem should both be present. Most reps skip the loop because nobody photographs the inside.

Fur trim

Authentic Goose uses coyote fur, which is why it looks uneven and moves in wind. Every rep in this price band uses synthetic trim. It photographs fine and it is cruelty-free, but it does not have the same movement. We list which is which per product.
